Cullen has a great sandy beach with some interesting rock formations. Do try Cullen Skink, a soup based around smoked haddock.
Some nice rock formations to check out and rick pools when the tide is out.

    460m

This moderate road cycling route, the North Sea Cycle Route: Banff and Cullen Loop, takes you along 28.8 miles (46.3 km) of the rugged Moray Firth coast. You'll experience a rewarding ride with 1523 feet (464 metres) of elevation gain, typically completed in about 2 hours and 16 minutes. As you pedal, you'll pass through agricultural lands and charming fishing communities. Keep an eye out for the striking Cullen Beach and Rock Formations, a notable landmark along the way. The route offers a mix of coastal views and glimpses into local life.

Before you set out, be aware that this route features consistent elevation changes, including some steep sections, making it a demanding ride. You might also encounter strong headwinds on exposed coastal stretches, which can add to the challenge. Parking is generally available in both Banff and Cullen, offering convenient starting points for your loop. Consider beginning your ride early to make the most of the daylight and avoid peak times.

This loop is part of the larger North Sea Cycle Route, highlighting a scenic section of the Aberdeenshire coastline. You'll pass through historic fishing villages like Portsoy, home to the Old Portsoy Harbour, and Cullen, known for its clean beach. The route also offers glimpses of historical sites such as Boyne Castle and the impressive 8-arch viaduct in Cullen, adding a rich cultural layer to your cycling adventure.
