    Bignor Hill stands proudly above the rolling countryside and affords far-reaching views. According to Celtic legend, a dragon had its lair on top of the hill and its remains can still be seen in the folds of the ground.

As you ascend towards Bignor Hill, you will encounter expansive, panoramic views across the rolling countryside, contrasting with tranquil stretches through woodlands filled with ash, yew, maple, and beech trees. The trail also guides you through open fields and along ancient flint-lined trackways, offering a varied visual experience.

    This loop is designed for convenience, starting and ending at a popular parking area where you will find the Whiteways Cafe. Be aware that the path features chalky surfaces, which can be stony in certain sections and may become slippery when wet, especially where there is loose chalk gravel. The route is noted as being ideal for dogs, and you will appreciate that it has been designed without any stiles, making for an uninterrupted walk.

Early in your hike, cross the River Arun via a footbridge, then begin your ascent towards Bignor Hill. From its summit, standing over 700 feet high, you can enjoy panoramic views across the Arun Valley, the South Downs, and even the distant coast.
