The ruin of a church dating from 1831, which was bombed during the Liverpool Blitz in May 1941 and deliberately preserved as a war memorial. Today it is a public meeting place, hosting theatre performances, music events, film screenings and markets throughout the summer. The ruin itself is of haunting beauty and can be visited free of charge during opening hours (donations are welcome). A hidden gem among Liverpool's sights, yet rarely mentioned in guidebooks.
