Most adventures to Stob Coire Raineach begin from the Pass of Glencoe and make for the bealach between the summit and the neighbouring Munro of Stob Dubh at the southwestern end of the Buachaille Etive Beag ridge. However, it is also possible to approach from Glen Etive, where the two Buachailles take on a whole different appearance.
The view from the summit is astonishing, particularly to the west where the muscular ridges and complex buttresses of the Bidean Massif vie against the notched wall of the Aonach Eagach ridge. This is one of Scotland’s premier hiking regions, so there’s plenty of accommodation nearby.
