A beautiful beach on the shores of Lough NaFooey whose name means 'Lake of the Winnowing Winds'. A perfect spot for a swim or a picnic.
The area around Loch Na Fooey and the nearby village of Finny is known as the position of the ancient 'Finny volcano' which formed 490 million years ago. Here it is thought the Lapetus Ocean closed and joined the two halves of Ireland. Some of the volcanic rocks can still be seen in the area.
