Nice little village that you can walk to from Bateman's across the fields. Or vice versa. The pub, set back from the main road, has a lovely beer garden!

Burwash is an historic village near the River Rother. The high street is a designated conservation area, such are the importance of the buildings. The area was once known for smugglers and highwaymen. In fact, the graves of smugglers can be found at St Bartholomew's Church. Burwash was Rudyard Kipling's local village when he lived at nearby Bateman's. The name of his son, John, who died in the First World War, is listed on the war memorial.
