Completed in 1851, Loganlea Reservoir is dammed by a wall standing 59 feet (18 m) high, and can hold 118 million imperial gallons of water. Today it's a popular fishing spot with Loganlea Fishery, and is perfect for fly fishing trout, either from bank or boat.

Loganlea Reservoir was completed in 1851. It is fed by the logan Burn and the water then flows into the larger Glencorse Reservoir. It's one of a series of reservoirs in the Pentland Hills built in the 1800s to provide water for the growing city of Edinburgh.

Loganlea reservoir is well positioned within the Pentlands, you can only see the hills from its banks.

This route covers 26.7 miles (42.9 km) with a significant 1360 feet (415 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 2 hours and 58 minutes to complete. You will experience a varied terrain, from smooth tarmac and dedicated cycleways to urban streets, singletrack, and even some "pretty rough farm track" and scree, which may require you to dismount and push your bike in places. The scenery is a major highlight, featuring rolling hills, tranquil burns, and expansive moorlands, with the Glencorse Reservoir beautifully nestled among them.

While the full loop from Edinburgh Waverley demands very good fitness, the Pentland Hills Regional Park offers a range of options.
