A striking tower sticking out of the East Anglian coast. Worth a visit just to have a look at the structure, but there is also a viewing platform, tea room and exhibitions through the summer.

The approach to the tower can be visited all year long, but the tower itself if only open from 1st April to 31st Oct.

Not something you're going to go up with road cleats on but the coffee van at the foot of the tower has plenty of tables if you're there on a fine day.

Embark on the Naze Tower & Clacton Pier loop from Colchester, a moderate road cycling route that takes you through historic Essex countryside and along the coast. This ride covers 43.6 miles (70.1 km) with an elevation gain of 952 feet (290 metres), typically completed in about 2 hours and 59 minutes. You will experience picturesque coastal views, passing by classic seaside piers and charming villages. The route features mostly well-paved surfaces, though some segments might be unpaved. The Naze Tower stands out as a striking landmark, offering extensive coastal views from its viewing platform.

To enjoy this moderate road ride, ensure you have good fitness for the nearly three-hour duration. While the route is generally well-maintained, be prepared for potential unpaved or challenging segments. Starting early in the day can help you avoid busier times, especially along coastal sections and near the piers. Plan your stops at the Naze Tower or Clacton Pier to make the most of your ride. Always check local conditions before you head out.

This loop is notable for combining a manageable distance with engaging coastal scenery. The presence of both the historic Naze Tower, originally a navigational aid, and the lively Clacton Pier adds to its appeal. You can stop at the Naze Tower to visit its art gallery and cafe, or simply enjoy the extensive views. The route is highly rated by the cycling community, making it a popular choice for those seeking a rewarding ride with seaside vistas.
