Drops from the main line at Chester Basin down 3 locks plus the old river lock to the tidal Dee. Built 1779 to link Chester to the Midlands, collapsed at Beeston, saved by Ellesmere Port, died when Shotton steel stopped.
Now it's padlocked, overgrown and perfect. If your boat gets past Lock 2, you get the Silver Propeller bragging rights. If you're walking, it's the quiet cut where the canal goes rogue and tries to join the river.
