    Road cycling

Stop and let your brakes cool on the decent - too much speed could spell your doom. There isn't a lot of room for a bike and a car at speed. Just saying...

An amazing climb to a beautiful spot. The Burway was used for the 1989 hill climb national championships, won by none other than Chris Boardman, his third of four consecutive British hill climb titles. Boardman's star was in the ascendance this year with track and road titles galore. Less than three years later he was Olympic champion and two years after that would be in the yellow jersey at the Tour de France.

This 26.5 miles (42.6 km) route, with a significant 2454 feet (748 metres) of elevation gain, takes approximately 3 hours and 1 minute to complete. You will navigate quiet country roads, stone forestry tracks, and grazed grassy upland paths, experiencing a mix of unpaved, gravel, natural, and asphalt surfaces. The trail features tough climbs and steep descents, leading you across heather-clad moorland with expansive views, especially from Pole Bank, the highest point on the Long Mynd.

Rated as difficult, this loop demands good to very good fitness levels due to its demanding climbs and descents.
